Man shot and car stolen in Ville Platte, police seek suspect

VILLE PLATTE, La. (KLFY) — Police are searching for who is responsible for shooting and stealing from a man in Evangline Parish.

The Ville Platte Police Department is currently investigating a shooting they said occurred shortly after midnight on Sunday.

Officials said a call was made regarding a shooting at the 200 block of East Pine Street. When they arrived, officers found one male victim who was shot in the left shin and left foot. The man was sent to a hospital where he remains in stable condition.

In addition to being shot, officials said the victim’s car, a newer-model black Malibu, was stolen and abandoned in Rayne. The front driver’s window had been smashed out and there was visible damage to the front passenger side. Also, approximately $12,000 cash was allegedly stolen from the vehicle but has not been recovered.

Authorities said the victim was a target, and they could be looking at multiple suspects. The case remains under investigation.
