Shortly before 11:45 p.m. on Aug. 16, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery by force in the 4800 block of Columbia Pike. There, the Arlington County Police Department (ACPD) said a man was walking when he was approached by a person he knew and four others.
The group of five reportedly assaulted him, struck him with a bat and stole his wallet before fleeing from the scene in a car.
The man sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Just hours later, at around 2:10 a.m., the man returned to the area when three of the five suspects got out of a car and approached him.
They pulled out what ACPD said appeared to be machetes and made threatening statements.
The victim ran away and called the police. When officers arrived, they said they were able to find the three suspects and take them into custody.
Two machetes and two bats were recovered, ACPD noted.
