LAFAYETTE, La. (
KLFY) – The
Lafayette Police Department has named a new deputy police chief.
Dorian Brabham has been named to the post last held by current Lafayette City Marshal Reggie Thomas in 2020.
According to a news release announcing the appointment, Brabham has more than 23 years of law enforcement experience, and is also a military veteran, having served as a Military Police Officer in the Louisiana National Guard for 11 years.
Brabham’s qualifications include a master’s degree in law enforcement administration and bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and corrections from Columbia Southern University.
He is a Command College graduate from Northeastern University, Police Executive Research Forum (PERF), and the National Command and Staff College. He has leadership certifications from the FBI National Academy Associates and Leadership Lafayette and is a certified Crime Prevention and Security Assessment Specialist from the American Crime Prevention Institute.
Brabham also serves on the board of directors for Faith House and is involved with the Acadiana Veteran’s Association and Leadership Lafayette, according to the release.
