ARLINGTON (DC News Now) — Dozens of flights were delayed at the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) on Monday after a fire alarm was activated in the air traffic control tower.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) told DC News Now that it is slowing flights into DCA after inbound flights were briefly paused because of the alarm.

Officials noted that the air traffic control tower is fully operational. However, several flights are experiencing an average delay of about 39 minutes following the incident.

The FAA noted that some flights are delayed for more than an hour.

Data from FlightAware showed that about 61 flights were delayed on Monday.

This is a developing story.
