CHALMETTE, La. (WGNO) — By the book, she’s got the record.

She is 9-year-old Chalmette fourth grader Catherine Robin.

She likes to be called Rin.

WGNO Good Morning New Orleans features reporter Bill Wood says

Rin likes to be called the National Champion of the National Accelerated Reader Record.

Rin read 609 books for 3,510.4 points.

She’s been at it for the last year.

“Each book holds a story for me, and I like putting myself in that story,” said Rin.

At her school, Our Lady of Prompt Succor, she’s the girl who’s always got a book in her hands.

In the classroom, in the hall and even on the playground.

Her first book, back when she was three, “Green Eggs and Ham.”

Now, her favorite subjects are Historical Fiction and Horror.
