Winnebago County Jail earns perfect score from Illinois Dept. of Corrections

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The Winnebago County Jail has earned a perfect score from the Illinois Department of Corrections during an annual inspection.

According to Sheriff Gary Caruana, “This success reflects the daily commitment, discipline, and professionalism of the men and women working in our jail. Their hard work makes this achievement possible, and I could not be prouder of their service to our community.”

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the Winnebago County Jail continues to improve services and outcomes for inmates in its care. The office cited improvements in transparency, accountability, expansion of mental health resources, a new records management system, replacements of all cameras and intercoms, and advanced security scanning technology for recognition.

“We are incredibly proud to share this news with our community,” said Sheriff Gary Caruana, “Earning a perfect score is a significant milestone and a testament to the pride we take in our facility and the service we provide to Winnebago County.”
