Teen shot multiple times in drive-by on Southwest Side

CHICAGO — A 17-year-old boy is hospitalized in serious condition after being shot multiple times in a drive-by shooting on the city’s Southwest Side.

The shooting happened around 8:20 a.m. Monday on the 6100 block of South Whipple Street in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood.

According to police, a 17-year-old male was walking when he was approached by an uknown vehicle. At least one person inside the vehicle fired shots at the teen, striking him multiple times.

Police said he was transported to the University of Chicago Hospital in serious condition.

No one is in custody. Area One detectives are investigating.
