SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Live! in the Community with the Cares Krewe partnered with a local boba teahouse, Tea Mochi, to pay for some sweet treats for some locals.

We had a chance to meet Brittany, who came into Tea Mochi for a drink and a donut.

“I come here because they make good drinks. Literally, I have a few pictures on my phone. The drinks are just aesthetically pleasing!” said Brittany.

“Tell me what you do?” asked Shelli Briery Murphy, Advertising and Public Relations Manager with Live! Casino & Hotel.

Brittany explained that she had just gotten a new job and had just finished a job interview. So she was treating herself to a little celebratory snack as she ran into Live! in the Community with the Cares Krewe.

It was meant to be! And we could not help but do a happy dance in celebration!

“It exceeded all my expectations! I knew it was going to be good!” said Brittany with an eye roll as she tried her drink.

“It does make my day!” said Brittany when we explained that we were going to pay for her items.

Tea Mochi opened in 2023 and offers a variety of scrumptious drinks, mochi donuts, and Korean corndogs made fresh daily with the best ingredients.

Are you wondering what boba, mochi donut, and Korean corndogs are? No worries, we will break it down for you.

Boba tea is also known as bubble tea or pearl milk tea. This is a Taiwanese tea-based drink. They typically include chewy tapioca pearls (also called boba or pearls), milk, and tea with various flavors.

A mochi donut is a hybrid pastry that combines the characteristics of traditional American-style donuts with the chewy texture of Japanese mochi.

Typically, they are made with glutinous rice flour that gives them a very distinct, bouncy, and chewy texture. The donuts are often featured in a ring shape of eight connected dough balls.

A Korean corndog is a combination of meat and/or cheese that is coated in batter (often containing rice flour and/or glutinous rice flour), and deep-fried. It’s typically served on a stick like a traditional corn dog. The Korean corndogs can be rolled in a variety of toppings, including hot Cheetos, French fries, fruity cereals, ramen, and more!
