Motorcycle officer mediflighted after crash in Hanford

HANFORD, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A Hanford motorcycle traffic officer was mediflighted after crashing into a vehicle Friday evening.

Just before 6 p.m., the on-duty officer was near Grangeville Boulevard and East Street as he responded to a reported traffic collision.

As the officer traveled east on Grangeville Boulevard toward 10th Avenue, Hanford Police say a small pickup truck entered the road from East Street, without yielding to oncoming traffic.

Investigators report the officer was unable to avoid the truck and was thrown off his bike after hitting the side of the pickup. He ultimately sustained serious injuries to his arms and face.

He was life-flighted to an area hospital, where he was last reported in serious, but stable condition.

The driver of the vehicle reported very minor injuries.
