TRIPLE DIGIT HEAT remains possible this weekend
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Temperatures on Thursday managed to climb close to the century mark over much of the ArkLaTex.  With rainfall chances looking rather low, there is no reason to believe that we will see much change this weekend.

Tomorrow’s forecast

Weekend temperatures:  Temperatures today have returned to the upper 90s to near 100.  Upper-level high pressure will continue to settle over the middle of the country this weekend.  This will likely keep the extreme heat in place.  Lows on Saturday morning will likely end up in the mid to upper 70s.  Daytime highs should be pretty close to 100 degrees.  The heat index will likely surpass 105.  A Heat Advisory will be in effect.

Futurecast outlook for the next 36 hours

Any rain is bonus rain: I would go into the weekend not expecting to see any rain.  If you do, consider it to be bonus rain.  Futurecast shows that we will see a clear to partly cloudy sky on Friday night and a mix of sunshine and clouds on Saturday.  Expect much of the same on Saturday night and Sunday.  The chance of seeing that ‘bonus’ rain is 10% or less, with a slightly higher chance on Sunday and Monday.

Long-range outlook: The upper-level ridge will gradually shift to the west during next week.  This will allow the heat to ease during the last half of the week.  Daytime highs will begin the week close to 100, and then settle back into the middle 90s. Another warm-up could begin next weekend.  Overnight lows should remain fairly steady.  Most of next week is looking dry, with our best chance of rain coming during the last half of the work week. Have a great weekend and stay cool!!
