On Friday, a mom posted on social media about the roadside assistance provided by LSU Safety Tamarcus Cooley.
Cayla Abad and her children were headed home in Baton Rouge when she caught a blowout. She was able to reach the shoulder of the road, but still didn’t feel safe as cars sped past her at high speeds.
Abad shared that she was having a hard time removing the lug nuts on the tire before Cooley pulled over and asked to help.
Cooley was leaving football practice when he noticed the mother on the side of the road. He added that one of the reasons he stopped to help was because he would want someone to help his mother in a similar situation.
“This guy is a saint,” Abad said in the post. “He was so kind, patient, and thoughtful. Even as we were leaving, he pulled into the lane first and stopped until we were back on the road safely.”
Abad went on to share how thankful she is and how proud Cooley’s parents must be.
“I hope it brings a smile to her face knowing that her son stopped to help someone. His parents raised the kind of man we aspire to raise our boys to be,” said Abad.
Cooley is a transfer student from North Carolina State who joined the Tigers’ roster in January. Since his collegiate career started in 2023, Cooley has had 43 tackles, 1 sack, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 3 interceptions, 6 passes broken up, and 9 passes defended.
