MINDEN, LA (KTAL/KMSS) — Over the offseason the Glenbrook football program hired a familiar face as its head coach. The Apaches hired Greg Tibbitt, who guided the program during the 2012 and 2013 seasons, where he finished with a record of 15-9. Heading into this season, Tibbitt is happy to be back in Minden to lead a promising young group of players.

“It was very exciting for us to come back,” Tibbitt said.

Tibbitt returns after serving as the Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Green Forest High School in Arkansas. When he saw the opportunity to return to Glenbrook, he couldn’t pass it up.

“When I was here before, Glenbrook was in the MAIS over in Mississippi and just being able to move to the LHSAA was very appealing,” he said. “We are very excited to be here and the schools it’s a neat place, it’s got a great support system and it’s exciting to be back.”

For Tibbitt his return isn’t just about coaching football, it’s about the ability to see these young men grow.

“You try to create great young men. We know we get them for three or four years and what they do after that is way more than what we have going. We’re just trying to create great young men to go out and be better in our community,” Tibbitt stated.

That leadership made the buy-in for the team super easy.

“I think it’s just the work ethic that we’ve done. They’ve bought in really well, we try to set those expectations and they’ve followed suit,” Tibbitt said.

“They’ve worked really hard this summer, wanting to learn, wanting to work and it’s not been an issue trying to pull that out of them. I think they are used to winning in baseball, winning in football so I don’t think it’s a problem to get that out of them.”

With a relatively young roster in 2025, the Apaches are going to miss some experience. For Tibbett though, he hasn’t seen a learning curve when it comes to the style of play.

“I think they’ve picked it up really well, especially being a young team. We’re a heavy RPO team so that’s kind of been a new concept for our guys and they’ve picked up the reads. It’s not perfect by any means but I think they’ve bought in and picked it up really well so far and like I said I think we’ll be excited to watch,” Tibbett exclaimed.

Tibbitt and the Apaches can’t wait to hit the field.

“You know you kind of go through the summer and it kind of drags out and then you go into fall camp and then it starts dragging out so I think they’re ready to play, ready to compete, ready to show people what we have to offer this year,” he said.

“Ready to go and show people that we’ll have a winning season because a lot of people think we are going to suck this year but I don’t think it’s going to be that way. Everybody else on the team is ready to show everyone what’s up,” senior tight end Gage White said.

Glenbrook opens the season at home against the Magnolia School of Excellence on September 5.
