Pros play alongside fans in LIV Golf Pro-Am

WESTFIELD, Ind. — Friday is the start of the LIV Golf Tournament in the City of Westfield.

54 of the best golfers in the world will be playing the 18-hole course at The Club in Chatham Hill
Thursday, as the professionals played alongside some golf fans.

Mayor Scott Willis, pro golfer and top contender Joaquin Niemann and 2025 Boys Golf State Champ Will Harvey all played on a team together for the Pro-Am.

“They definitely make it look a lot easier than it should, but no, it’s a pretty sweet experience,” Harvey said.

The Westfield graduate was able to pick up some tips from Joaquin as they worked their way hole to hole.

“He’s a big on short game,” Harvey said. “Once you get to these tougher courses, short games are a big key, and just not standing on the range hitting a thousand balls a day.”

This is a course the up-and-coming Purdue golfer has played quite a few times. He’s eager to see some of his favorite athletes give it a swing.

“People are super excited about being a part of this event, being up close with these professional golfers, seeing an international professional event like this is rare,” Mayor Scott Willis said. “I never thought we’d see this in Westfield.”

The shotgun start for the first round is just after noon on Friday, but golf enthusiasts need to plan ahead before coming.

Tomlinson Road, the main road into Chatham, will be closed throughout the tournament.
Folks need to go to the Event Center on 191st street and catch a ride in.

“You’ll park there. You’ll get on a shuttle. It’ll take you up close to the golf course,” Willis said.

Along with getting to the club early, this weekend will be a hot one, so attendees should have water throughout the day as they watch alongside the fairway.

“There’ll be plenty of hydration stations there, but do yourself a favor: hydrate before you come. Hydrate throughout the event, so you don’t become a casualty to the heat,” Willis said.
