With Norfork officially starting classes Wednesday this week, newly elected superintendent Richard Blevins spoke with KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News offering details about this school year and provided that his focus is in line with the school board’s amendments to his contract. The board amended his contract to add three goals for him to meet during the upcoming school year. They include a 5 percent growth in proficiency, improve the state rankings for the schools to an A for the elementary and a B for the high school and ensure the graduation rate is above 90 percent.
As students and staff prepare for the new year an interesting point Blevins discusses is enrollment in the kindergarten class.

The district delivered free meals over the summer and despite the learning curve it shows to be a valued program that Blevins hopes to nearly double next year.
Listen:
It was voted earlier by the School Board to keep school meals, both breakfast and lunch, free this school year like they were last year.
The Board discussed adding volleyball as a new sport. Blevins talks about the interest students showed and what they’re doing right now to support the program.
Listen:
Blevins mentions another additional program in the works.
Listen:
That program would be for ages 14 and up.
Richard Blevins began working in the role of Superintendent for Norfork Schools in Feburary of 2025 as interim and now begins his first full year in that role.
