Norfork School board accepts principal’s resignation, renews contracts of classified staff

During their regular monthly meeting Monday night, the Norfork School Board dealt with a number of issues including the resignation of one of their principals and the renewing of contracts for classified staff.

The board accepted the resignation of High School Principal Jason Williams. Interim Superintendent Richard Blevins tells KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News the board will accept applications for the position until May 7.

The board also set May 7 as the deadline for applicants to apply for the superintendent’s position.

The board voted to renew all classified staff contracts for the 2025-26 school year, with the exception of two employees who are retiring.

In other personnel matters, the board accepted the resignations of the Transportation Director and Lone Rock Route bus driver. Derek Ivens was hired as the new Transportation Director and Wally Bobinski was hired to take over the Lone Rock Route.

The contract of IT Director Mark Sanders was extended from a 10 month contract to a 12 month contract.

The board reviewed the stipends for extra duties and updates to the salary schedules and they will now be sent back to the personnel policy committees.

One personnel item on the agenda was not voted on, the combining of the elementary art and gifted and talented teacher. In doing that, an extra aide would have to be hired. The board tabled discussion on the proposal until its next meeting.

The Norfork School Board voted to rescind their Alternative Learning Enviroment (ALE) contract with the Mountain Home School District they had approved at last month’s meeting after learning it will not be required by the state next school year. Blevins says Norfork will set up their own program at the school.
