SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser made a two-day stop in Shreveport, connecting with residents, local leaders, and tourism officials about Louisiana’s progress.

Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser started his visit to Shreveport with a meet and greet at Superior bar and grill on Monday, sharing updates on tourism growth, new recreation opportunities, and the statewide litter clean-up.

“I come up here as much as I can; it’s their ideas. I’m just fortunate to put them into play,” said Nungesser.

Nungesser says trips like these are about listening to voices from locals. Community leaders say his visits bring more than just conversation; one key focus of his visit is the statewide litter campaign.

“Most importantly, the lieutenant governor is going throughout the state… sharing ideas that could benefit north Louisiana as well,” said District 10 commissioner Ronald L. Cothran. “The litter campaign that he has established has been really significant here in north Louisiana, particularly in Shreveport, as we continue to do the block by block and things of this nature.’

From clean-up efforts to sports tourism, such as pickleball, Nungesser says Shreveport-Bossier is on the incline to tourism success.

“I’m working on trying to put pickleball courts in all my state parks; it’s a big thing now,” said Nungesser. “The reason Shreveport-Bossier is a great attraction is the low cost of the hotels.”

Nungesser wrapped up his visit on Tuesday and says he wants to maintain the momentum.
