Robert Iancu and Mariana Mititescu face multiple charges, including violation of probation, conspiracy and identity theft. Their bail was set at $25,000 each, said SCSO.
The duo initially targeted Sonoma County for the thefts but eventually hit several stores throughout the Bay Area, according to the sheriff’s office.
Detectives said they discovered several stolen credit cards and gift cards, and “dozens of boxes of stolen merchandise,” including kitchen appliances, clothing and shoes, when they searched the suspects’ homes.
“Both subjects are part of a larger network of criminal organizations that travel the United States committing retail theft,” said officials in a social media post.
The total value of the recovered goods was not disclosed.
