According to the Rockford Police Department, officers were called to the Chase Bank at 6601 E. State Street at 1:13 p.m. on August 8th after police said Jerryah McDonald, 21, approached the victim as she was leaving the bank, grabbed the purse that was strapped around her body, and dragged her to the ground.
McDonald was able to get the purse once the strap broke, and he ran from the scene on foot.
Detectives were able to identify McDonald as the offender and located him on Thursday morning.
He was arrested on the charges of aggravated battery and robbery, and booked into the Winnebago County Jail pending the outcome of a pretrial detention hearing.
