Louisiana federal prison worker arrested for drug smuggling

COLFAX, La. (WNTZ) – A federal prison employee was arrested in Grant Parish after authorities said she tried to smuggle drugs into the facility.

According to the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office, the arrest also led investigators to additional information about drug smuggling at the prison. The investigation remains ongoing.

J’Alexis Alexander, 22, of Hessmer, was arrested on charges of possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, taking contraband into a penal institution, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of Suboxone with intent to distribute and malfeasance in office.

Authorities did not release additional details about the alleged smuggling operation.
