4 female teens charged in assault and robbery of elderly Walnut Creek man

(KRON) — Four teens have been charged in the assault and robbery of an elderly Walnut Creek man last week. Two 18-year-old women, identified as Jaycee Whitney Chamberlain Behnke of Walnut Creek and Antonina “Hunter” Abdulwajid of Concord were charged, along with two juveniles.

According to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office, the incident occurred around 11 p.m. in a supermarket parking lot in the 1900 block of Tice Valley Road near Rossmore. The victim, a 62-year-old Walnut Creek man, was sitting in his car while his partner shopped inside the store.

The suspects, the DA said, drove up to the victim’s car, circling it multiple times. When the victim got out and walked toward their car, one of the juveniles got out and assaulted him. Abdulwajid and the other juvenile joined in on the assault, punching and kicking the victim until he fell to the ground.

He was repeatedly kicked by one of the juveniles while on the ground, the DA said.

The attack was confirmed by witness statements and video footage. The victim was injured and had his personal property stolen. The Walnut Creek Police Department investigated the incident and the suspect’s vehicle was spotted half a mile away.

All four suspects were arrested. Abdulwajid and Behnke were booked into the Martinez Detention Center. The juveniles were booked into Contra Costa Juvenile Hall. The juvenile cases, the DA said, will be processed through juvenile courts confidentially.

Abdulwajid and Behnke were charged with second-degree robbery and assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury. Abdulwajid was arraigned Wednesday and Behnke was arraigned Tuesday.

Bail for both has been set at $80,000. If convicted, both women could face a maximum of six years in prison.

“Everyone deserves to live in safe and secure communities,” said Contra Costa District Attorney Diana Becton. “The collaborative work between Walnut Creek Police and my office demonstrates our unwavering commitment to holding accountable those who threaten the safety of others.”
