Court documents detail Jackson mother’s alleged confession, leading troopers to missing boy’s grave

JACKSON, Ky. (FOX 56) — An arrest citation has revealed more details regarding what led Kentucky State Police to Canoe Road, where they’d eventually find the remains of 10-year-old Jayden Spicer.

On Aug. 6, 33-year-old Felicia Gross reported her son Jayden missing. She reportedly told troopers that he disappeared overnight and was last seen wearing blue “Sonic the Hedgehog” pajamas. A near week-long, exhaustive search for the boy would ensue.

According to an arrest citation, Jayden’s siblings were interviewed at a daycare in Hazard. Troopers later learned that Gross coached the children on what to say.

On Aug. 12, Gross was interviewed at the Jackson Police Department. There, she told law enforcement that she’d given Jayden a sleeping medication that caused him to have a “medical emergency.” Court documents state that she believed that he had passed away.

Gross continued to tell authorities that she then took Jayden’s body to a wooded area on Canoe Road “near the mouth of Joe Little Fork.” According to an arrest citation, that’s where troopers found the boy buried in a tote in a shallow grave.

LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

KSP supplied FOX 56 with the following written statement from Gross, asking for prayers and pleading with anyone who has information on Jayden’s whereabouts to come forward. It’s believed she wrote this knowing what had happened to her son.

She’s been charged with second-degree manslaughter, falsely reporting an incident, tampering with physical evidence, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with a witness.

Gross was lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail.
