8 people shot, 1 fatally, in 7 different attacks in Oakland over the weekend

(BCN) — Oakland police are investigating seven shootings over the weekend that left seven people hurt and one dead. The first was just after 12:30 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of 104th Avenue and International Boulevard in East Oakland. When officers arrived, they found evidence of a shooting, but no victims, police said.

A little later, OPD was informed that someone had been taken to a hospital with at least one gunshot wound. That person was listed in stable condition.

The second shooting was just after 2 p.m. Saturday in the 500 block of Aileen Street in North Oakland, where officers found a person who had been shot at least once. The victim, whose name wasn’t released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said one person is in custody in connection with the shooting. That person’s name also wasn’t released. The third case was just after 6 p.m. Saturday in the 2600 block of 66th Avenue, where a woman was shot at least once. She was taken to the hospital, where she was listed in stable condition, police said Tuesday.

The fourth was just after 10:45 p.m. in the 100 block of 14th Street in front of the Oakland Main Library and about a block and a half away from the Alameda County Administration Building. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man who was shot at least once, police said.

Officers provided first aid until paramedics arrived and took him to the hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. The fifth shooting was on Sunday at about 1:15 a.m. in the 10800 block of MacArthur Boulevard, according to police. In that case, the victim managed to get himself to the hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

The sixth shooting injured a man and a woman who were in the 1200 block of Lakeshore Avenue at about 2:45 a.m. Sunday, police said. The pair were taken to the hospital by paramedics and were listed in stable condition, according to police.

The seventh case was just before 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the 8200 block of Dowling Street, where a man was shot at least once, police said. Officers provided first aid before paramedics arrived to take him to the hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
