Daytime highs are likely mid 60s to mid 70s along the coast, high 60s to low 80s around the bay, and high 80s to mid 90s inland along the coast. Overnight lows are expected to be in the high 50s to low 60s.
Forecasters expect the stretch of hot weather inland to finally start easing. A new weather system is moving into the state, bringing cooler air. According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday will be a “transition day,” with temps a little lower than before, but inland spots will still be hot.
Along the coast, forecasters expect clouds and fog in the morning, with some drizzle. These clouds are predicted to keep coastal areas cooler, but they also mean bad news for anyone wanting to watch the Perseid meteor shower. Most places will have cloudy skies, with only higher hills offering a better view.
A beach hazards statement stays in effect through Tuesday evening for the coastal North Bay, including Point Reyes National Seashore, and Northern Monterey Bay. Sneaker waves can rush much farther up the beach than normal, even over rocks and jetties. Strong rip currents are also possible, especially near piers and inlets, according to the NWS.
