New Iberia 4-year-old wounded in Tuesday morning shooting

NEW IBERIA, La. (KLFY) — A 4-year-old girl has been hospitalized after being shot in New Iberia on Tuesday, authorities said.

New Iberia Police responded at around 11:40 a.m. Tuesday to a report of a shooting in the 1300 block of Ann Street, where a 4-year-old girl was injured.

The girl was taken by ambulance to a local hospital in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery, officials said.

Investigators said another child was playing with a gun when it discharged and struck the 4-year-old.  

No other details were released. The investigation is ongoing.
