BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A Louisiana woman was released from prison and rearrested within a couple of hours, deputies said.
According to the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office, around 7 a.m. Monday morning, deputies received reports about a suspicious woman walking in the middle of Highway 63, or Weiss Road.
LPSO Sheriff Jason Ard said the female exited a Livingston Department of Public Works (DPW) truck asking for a ride. She was seen being picked up by a vehicle driving south. Deputies found the woman at a local grocery store. Inside the DPW truck, deputies found the woman’s discharge paperwork from the Livingston Parish Detention Center. Her paperwork declared she was arrested on criminal trespassing charges.
The woman was identified as Lisa Cleaver, 42.
Ard added that as soon as Cleaver exited the detention center upon release, she attempted to enter an unmarked LPSO unit in the parking lot, but was unsuccessful.
She was readmitted to the detention center on charges of theft of a vehicle.
Livingston Parish President Randy Delatte is aware of the incident and confirmed an internal review is underway.
This is an ongoing investigation.
