He’s on the go and WGNO Good Morning New Orleans features reporter Bill Wood is waving the green flag.
Behind the wheel is 12-year-old Tyrone Kemper, Jr.
At NOLA Motorsports Park in Avondale, Kemper takes off just about every day.
It’s the kind of dedication that’s making him one of the top racers in the USA.
Tyrone has been traveling around the track since he was six.
That’s half his life and all his life, he’s had his family as his fans in the stands.
Dad, mom, grandma and their Goldendoodle road dog, Zuma.
Life in the fast lane started as a way for Tyrone Kemper, Sr. to spend time with his son.
Now, a races from Texas to Indiana, the Kempers set up trackside.
You’ll find them in the trailer where they check in to spend the night.
You see, a hotel room is not in their budget.
“It’s not the Hilton, it’s not the Sheraton but what we sacrifice to actually do this is actually quiet a bit,” said Kemper Sr.
Pushing past the speed bumps of life, Team Kemper races on.
Rolling down the road at 80 miles an hour.
Right onto the next victory lap.
