Oregon’s selection marks the second-straight season in which the program has debuted in the poll’s top-10, beginning their 2024 campaign as the No. 3 team in the nation. The Ducks have been a preseason top-25 selection in each of the last eight seasons, including all four of head coach Dan Lanning’s seasons at the helm of the program.
Oregon earned one first-place vote in the poll, one of six schools to do so.
Lanning’s squad is the third of three Big Ten Conference members appearing in the preseason top 10, behind No. 2 Penn State and No. 3 Ohio State, the reigning national champions. Along with Oregon, the Buckeyes (11) and Nittany Lions (23) each received first-place votes in the poll, too.
Penn State and Indiana are Oregon’s lone regular-season opponent ranked in the preseason top-25.
