The Top 25 poll was released Monday. Based on the rankings, Texas jumped up three spots from the previous poll and Alabama jumped nine spots for this preseason ranking.
For the first time, Texas will open a college football season ranked No. 1, AP wrote.
AP numbers show that the following teams received first-place votes: Texas (25), Penn State (23), Ohio State (11), Clemson (4), Georgia (1) and Oregon (1).

Other teams that received votes to be in the top 25 were BYU, Utah, Baylor, Louisville, Southern California, Georgia Tech, Missouri, Tulane, Nebraska, UNLV, Toledo, Auburn, James Madison, Memphis, Florida State, Duke, Liberty, Navy, Iowa, Pittsburgh, Army, Colorado and Louisiana-Lafayette.
