$10K reward offered for information in West Side mass shooting that killed 22-year-old woman, injured 5 others

CHICAGO (WGN) — The investigation into Sunday’s early morning mass shooting on Chicago’s West Side is still underway. Cook County Crime Stoppers is offering up to $10,000 for tips leading to an arrest.

At around 2:45 a.m. on Sunday, Chicago police say officers found people shot when they responded to a call of a large gathering in the 100 block of North Lacrosse Avenue.

Among those wounded was a 22-year-old woman, identified as Jashyra Blackhawk, who police say was shot in the back. She was taken to an area hospital and subsequently pronounced dead.

Additionally, police say a 29-year-old man was shot in the right leg and taken to an area hospital in critical condition, an 18-year-old male was shot in the chest and left arm and taken to an area hospital in critical condition, and a 17-year-old boy was shot in the left thigh and taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

Also wounded, according to police, was a 29-year-old woman who was shot in the right elbow and taken to an area hospital in good condition, and an 18-year-old male who was grazed in the left hand and released after being treated at the scene.

The incident was one of three shootings within hours of each other in the Austin neighborhood over the weekend. Police have not yet confirmed that any of the shootings were related or stemmed from a “teen takeover.”

Now, Cook County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for the shooting.

“This was a senseless act of violence that took a young life and left several others injured,” Paul Rutherford, Executive Director of Cook County Crime Stoppers, said. “We know there are people out there who have critical information. Your call can make the difference in bringing justice to Jashyra and her family.”

Anyone with information should contact the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 1-800-535-STOP or the Chicago Police Tip Line at 1-833-403-0069.

Additionally, tips can be made online at www.CPDTIP.com or by email at TIPS@CookCountyCrimeStoppers.org.

Cook County Crime Stoppers say tipsters can remain anonymous and do not have to provide their name.
