DUCHESNE COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — The 14-year-old girl who was last seen on a family trip in the Uinta Mountains has been found safe, according to family.
She was reportedly found by helicopter. According to the family, when she realized she was lost, she made her way to a trailhead and stayed there until she heard a helicopter.
At that point, she went to a meadow and waved it down. The helicopter then took her back to another trailhead where she was reunited with others.
“She is totally fine, physically and emotionally,” the family stated. “She is acting as if nothing major happened, and outside of some minor scrapes and a sunburn, she is physically in great condition.”

DUCHESNE COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — Search and Rescue teams with the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office are actively searching for a missing 14-year-old girl who was last seen on a family trip in the Uinta Mountains.
The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office said the girl was last seen with her family in the Painters Basin area near Kidney Lakes.
The initial call reporting disappearance reportedly came in just after 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7. Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office said search efforts began immediately with horse-mounted search teams entering the area. A helicopter was also deployed, but was reportedly forced to land due to high winds.
She was last seen wearing a pink hoodie and gray capri pants.

Search crews are continuing and expanding their efforts both on the ground and in the air, as conditions allow, according to the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office.
