San Mateo police stop stolen Lexus with tire immobilization device

(KRON) – Police deployed a tire immobilization device to stop a stolen Lexus Friday night, said the San Mateo Police Department.

San Mateo police officers were notified that a stolen Lexus sedan had entered the city. Responding officers tried to pull over the vehicle, but the driver did not yield.

SMPD said the driver tossed a gun out of the sedan while fleeing.

Officers utilized a tire immobilization device to flatten the vehicle’s tires. The driver stopped in Hayward, where they attempted to flee on foot. Police were able to detain the driver and said they found “numerous tools related to their nefarious activity” in the Lexus.
