On Thursday, August 7, 2025, the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office was called to 9200 Danube Ave. for an alleged assault. When deputies arrived, they found the suspect, Michael Casey Dodson, 50, whom they had encountered for calls before, outside of his home. Deputies said Dodson fled from deputies, entered the house, barricaded himself on the second floor of the home, and refused to cooperate with law enforcement.
The victims of the alleged assault were Dodson’s parents. Fearing Dodson was armed, negotiators were brought in from the sheriff’s office, the Texarkana Texas Police Department, and the Texas Department of Safety, but were unsuccessful.
TTPD Special Weapons and Tactics team responded and fired a chemical agent into the barricaded area of the home to force Dodson out. He then fled to the attic to escape the chemicals, but eventually fell through the ceiling.
Dodson was arrested and booked into the Bowie County Jail for two counts of injury to an elderly individual/family violence, and interfering with an emergency call. No bond was set when police announced Dodson’s arrest.
The Bowie County Sheriff’s Office commended the assistance they received from other law enforcement agencies to resolve the matter safely.
