A judge denied granting bail for Dahbour’s boyfriend, Pedro Armando Arellano, this week because “he remains a danger to the public,” prosecutors said. The San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office charged Arellano with second-degree murder for the death of his girlfriend. He pleaded not guilty.
While the couple was dating, Arellano “provided victim with fentanyl without charge because she was his girlfriend,” the DA’s office wrote. Before Dahbour’s death on January 4, 2025, she survived two fentanyl overdoses by using Narcan, prosecutors said.
Arellano, 27, of San Mateo, also overdosed at least three times and survived.
During one overdose incident before Dahbour’s death, San Mateo Police Department officers admonished Arellano. The officers warned Arellano that, if he gave fentanyl to someone who ended up dying from it, he could be charged with murder, according to the DA’s office.
Prosecutors described the couple as “regular fentanyl users.” On the afternoon of January 4, 2025, Arellano gave his girlfriend fentanyl and they used the powerful opioid together, investigators said. Dahbour went home to her parent’s house on Shore View Avenue where she lived in a detached unit.
The next morning, on January 5, 2025, Dahbour’s mother found her daughter deceased in bed.
An obituary for the Redwood City native states, “She had a passion for reading, coloring, makeup, and, of course, listening to Justin Bieber — she was a true belieber. With her infectious energy and bubbly personality, Adrienne could light up any room she entered. Her laughter was a constant, her heart, boundless.”
“Adrienne’s passing leaves a profound emptiness in the hearts of all who knew her. Her death has shocked and devastated us all,” the obituary writes.
The boyfriend will return to the Hall of Justice courthouse in Redwood City on September 4 for a preliminary hearing.
