Named in honor of a beloved former superintendent, the sprawling campus will be home to the district’s sixth high school and a new intermediate school. Nearly 500 construction workers are putting the finishing touches on the massive project.
“When you look at this campus — just the sheer size of the campus, the buildings — it’s incredible,” said Assistant Principal Denver Stairs. “I’ve been with Clovis Unified 26 years. I was a student here, graduated from Clovis West, and now to be part of opening this… it’s a full circle moment.”
The site, located at Leonard and East McKinley avenues, will house Clovis South High School and Sanchez Middle School. Sanchez Middle School Principal Sonia Torossian said seventh- and eighth-graders will start on opening day alongside Clovis South’s first class of freshmen.
Each year, the high school will add another grade level until it’s fully built out in the 2028–2029 school year.
The property was purchased in 2007 and was the vision of then-Superintendent Terry P. Bradley. Bradley passed away on July 17, just five weeks before the grand opening.
“Dr. Bradley was one of our most beloved administrators,” Torossian said. “He would be so proud to see this day.”
From the outside, the development appears as one large campus, but it will operate as two separate schools. Amenities will include a soccer field, tennis courts, a competition gym, and a football stadium.
“We’re excited,” Stairs said. “Both football stadiums have field houses, and we’ve incorporated them into the gym so they’ll be shared spaces. It’s been a long, hard task to get here, but that’s something Dr. Bradley never shied away from in his career.”
