The warmth ended a string of seven consecutive days with below normal temperatures and marked the first time recording a daily temperature surplus in 8 days, since July 29th.
Despite a few puffy cumulus clouds, nearly 80% of the day’s possible sunshine was observed according to weather historian, Frank Wachowski, who keeps track of sunshine at his south side residence.
Despite warmer temperatures, it was the continued poor air quality that made headlines again. Much of the day was spent in the “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups” category.
