TxDOT Amarillo set to begin .8 Million BI-40 bridge replacement project Aug. 13
AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Officials with TxDOT Amarillo announced that crews will begin a full replacement of the BI-40 bridge at I-40 near exit 85, east of Amarillo, on Wednesday, Aug. 13.

TxDOT detailed that the bridge is nearing the end of its service and requires upgrades, leading to this construction. Upgrades to the bridge include increased vertical clearance for the I-40 freight corridor as well as other safety enhancements.

Officials notified drivers to expect multiple lane closures during construction, which is scheduled to be completed in the Summer of 2026.

Please drive with caution and reduce speed through all work zones. All projects are subject to change due to weather, emergency work, and other unexpected events.
