ST. MARTIN PARISH, La. (KLFY) – The St. Martin Parish School Board hosted its annual Technology Boot Camp and Back to School Summit this summer, aimed at preparing over 600 educators for the upcoming school year.

For nearly a decade, the St. Martin Parish School Board Technology Department has organized a summer Technology Boot Camp for teachers, focusing on professional development and technological integration in education. This year, the event was combined with a Back to School Summit, offering a mini-conference experience for educators.

“A lot of the professional development centers around the curriculum aspects of our district and what we need to introduce our students to,” said Frederick Wiltz, Superintendent of St. Martin Parish. “So a lot of their professional development involves making sure that our teachers are properly prepared for when students arrive next week.”

The event featured both required and optional sessions, covering topics such as curriculum reinforcement, updates on new laws and policies, and training on technology tools like Google Gemini, Canva, and Edpuzzle.

The summit is designed to ensure that educators are equipped with the latest knowledge and skills to effectively teach and engage students in the modern classroom environment.

St. Martin Parish students are scheduled to return to school on August 12th, marking the start of the new academic year.

With the comprehensive training provided at the Technology Boot Camp and Back to School Summit, St. Martin Parish educators are set to welcome students back to school, ready to implement new strategies and tools in their teaching.
