Nolen Daniels, 21, was arrested on Monday on charges of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.
Police believe Daniels was involved in the shooting of Daryl Hamilton, 32, in the 200 block of E. Buchanan Street.
According to the police, officers were called in response to Hamilton and Daniels exchanging gunfire. Both were taken to a local hospital in critical condition. Hamilton later died of his injuries.
It should be noted that Daniels is currently in jail for an unrelated charge. He has a criminal history of aggravated escape, obstruction of justice, multiple counts of illegal possession of a stolen firearm, and multiple counts of handling machine guns.
