The crash occurred at approximately 5:58 p.m. on Aug. 4, when a 2005 Honda CBR600 motorcycle left the roadway and struck a ditch. The 17-year-old, a passenger on the motorcycle, was critically injured and later died at a nearby hospital.
The driver of the motorcycle, Dakota S. Hammond, 20, of Albertville, and the teen were both ejected from the vehicle upon impact. After the initial crash, the motorcycle struck a 1999 Buick Century driven by Latisha R. Puckett, 35, also of Albertville.
Hammond was injured and transported to Huntsville Hospital for treatment. Puckett, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, was also injured and taken to Marshall Medical Center North.
The crash happened on Pleasant Hill Road near Patterson Drive, about five miles south of Guntersville.
Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are continuing to investigate.
