The crash occurred at approximately 1:18 p.m. on Sept. 5, when a 2015 Honda Fit driven by John P. Streit, 21, collided head-on with a 2004 Peterbilt dump truck. The truck was being driven by Shannon L. Creel, 50, of Holly Pond.

Streit was pronounced dead at the scene. Creel was injured in the crash and transported to Marshall Medical Center North in Guntersville for treatment.
