ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – With school set to start for Abilene schools next week, a barbershop in south Abilene is gearing up to provide free haircuts and much more.

For its second annual “Back to School” event on Monday, August 11, Crown of Thorns Barbershop says it will offer free haircuts and school supplies to local students. The event, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the barbershop located at 4601 Antilley Rd., Suite 501, is designed to help families prepare for the upcoming school year.

According to owner Michael Reynosa, the barbershop will provide 100 backpacks filled with essential school supplies on a first-come, first-served basis. The event will also feature free haircuts for students, with a team of barbers ready to serve the community.

“It’s important for us to give back and support our community, especially as families get ready for the new school year,” Reynosa said. “We are grateful for the help we’ve received and want to pay it forward.”

In addition to haircuts and school supplies, a food truck will be on-site to provide meals for attendees. Reynosa says he hopes the event will be a blessing for local families in need.

“This is a chance for us to come together as a community and show our gratitude for the support we’ve received,” he said. “We’re looking forward to seeing everyone on August 11.”

The event is free and open to all local students, with supplies available while they last. For more, visit the barbershop’s facebook page.
