17-year-old suspect arrested for Farmerville gang-related shooting

FARMERVILLE, La. (KTVE/KARD) — In June 2024, deputies of the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of gunfire in Farmerville, La. Deputies, along with officers from the Farmerville Police Department, initiated an investigation. During this investigation, deputies learned that a residence on Ann Street had been struck by gunfire in multiple places.

According to authorities, additional rounds also struck the nearby Pafford EMS ambulance station. Evidence collected at the scene indicated that the suspects allegedly approached the residence on foot. While no suspects were immediately identified, deputies believed the shooting was gang-related and likely connected to another shooting earlier in the month.

During a foot pursuit in Farmerville in July 2024, a suspect allegedly discarded a backpack as he fled from authorities. Despite an extensive search, the suspect was not located that day.

The backpack was recovered by authorities, and a firearm, a loaded magazine, drug paraphernalia, and cash were discovered inside. The firearm was submitted to the crime lab, where it was later matched to shell casings recovered from the shooting. The investigation later revealed the suspect who discarded the backpack to be 17-year-old Broderick Eugene Nute III of Farmerville.

Investigators conducted an extensive investigation, interviewing multiple individuals who were present during the shooting. Four people were present in the residence, and 6 Pafford EMS employees were inside the ambulance station.

According to officials, investigators determined the residence was the intended target. As a result of the investigation, Nute, who goes by his street name “Stank Stank,” was identified as the shooting suspect, and investigators prepared warrants for his arrest.

On August 5, 2025, deputies executed an arrest warrant and located Nute at a residence in Farmerville. During the arrest, Nute allegedly physically resisted by trying to pull away from deputies.

Deputies recovered a suspected Ecstasy pill that Nute allegedly threw onto the ground while being handcuffed. Nute was booked into the Union Parish Detention Center on the following charges:

  • Illegal Use of Weapons
  • Four counts of Attempted First-Degree Murder
  • 6 counts of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm
  • 9 counts of Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property
  • Criminal Street Gangs and Patterns of Criminal Street Gangs
  • Possession of Schedule I Narcotics (Ecstasy)
  • Resisting an Officer

The suspect’s bond was set at $1,713,500.
