Man allegedly assaulted woman at “compound”
A St. Cloud man is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting women at a property off of U.S. Highway 10 in Sherburne County.
Tyler Ross Schommer, 37, faces one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of using drugs to injure someone or facilitate a crime.
According to the criminal complaint, a man contacted police in June and said he had received a “mass text message” containing photos and videos of sexual assaults on unconscious women. Investigators identified the suspect in the assaults as Schommer.
The man who sent the mass texts identified one of the victims as his niece. The victim told police she had been sexually assaulted in March at the “compound,” a location off Highway 10. She added that she had known Schommer for a few months and had visited the compound a few times.
The victim said she believed Schommer had drugged her, and that he is known to drug and assault women, court documents state. She said she was at the compound, became very tired, and Schommer carried her to his bed and assaulted her.
The woman later learned there was a video of the assault and asked Schommer about it, but he denied it. The woman later saw the video.
She added that Schommer kept her clothes after the assault and gave her a blue dress to wear home. There was a room at the compound filled with other people’s clothes, she told police.
According to court documents, the woman said Schommer had choked her to get her to pass out and when she woke up, he was assaulting her. She told police that she was afraid to tell anyone because Schommer’s girlfriend had threatened her.
In June, Schommer’s girlfriend approached the woman with a gun and threatened to shoot her if she told anyone about the video, court documents state.
Schommer remains in custody on $200,000 bail. His next court hearing is scheduled for Aug. 13.
