The festivities featured Dead and Company performing at Golden Gate Park for three consecutive days, drawing large crowds of fans and tourists to the area.
“I call it the tie-dye Olympics whenever Dead and Co or the boys are in town!” said Sunshine Powers, owner of Love on Haight.
“We got more business, we got more foot traffic, the streets were packed. Tourism drives revenue into our city, it drives jobs, it helps us, business was awesome!” Powers added.
“This last weekend we saw 2 to 3 times the business we usually get, people from all over the country. Everyone was super nice, super patient, just here to have a good time,” said Brandon Phillips, owner of Magnolia Brewing Company.
Powers, who owns the tie-dye emporium Love on Haight, reported a busy weekend with hundreds of Dead Heads visiting her shop to purchase Grateful Dead merchandise.
Mickey Reid, a tourist from Tennessee, expressed his excitement about the vibrant atmosphere, saying, “All the vendors lining the streets in the park and all the little shops around, all kinds of treasures everywhere!”
Phillips noted a significant increase in business, with sales of food, liquor, and beer soaring as visitors flocked to the area.
Phillips is preparing for continued high demand with upcoming events like Outside Lands and Zach Bryan concerts, which are expected to draw more visitors to San Francisco.
