The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department said crews responded to the 2300 block of Colts Brook Drive for reports of a house fire. There, they saw fire showing from the home’s rooftop solar panels.
The fire was contained to the roof and nobody was hurt.
Everyone had been able to escape from the home safely after they heard a loud noise inside and saw smoke coming from the roof.
The fire did not displace anyone and the occupants were able to go back inside the home after it was extinguished.
Officials determined that the fire was caused by an electrical event involving the solar panels. It caused about $60,527 in damages.
