Rain chance a bit higher on Tuesday
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — We are watching several areas of interest in the Atlantic although non that pose a threat to the Gulf at this time. The first is Tropical Storm Dexter which is going to continue to move northeast into the north Atlantic.

Another area off the southeast coast is given a low chance of development over the next seven days. This has a chance to be like Chantal earlier in the season where it develops very close to the coast as it moves north, although again the chance overall is low.

A stronger wave coming off Africa has a medium chance of development the next few days as it moves west. However this will not be an issue for anywhere near the Gulf.

Locally we will continue to see more standard early August weather. The heat won’t be extreme but we will see low 90s each day this week with heat index values around 100-105. Rain chances will continue to be spotty at 40-50%. Overall Tuesday looks like a slightly better coverage of rain than Monday.
