ST. JOHN’S – A 39-year-old Drums man is in Luzerne County Prison after state troopers say he’s accused of stabbing his 13-year-old adoptive son and not allowing him to leave.
Cesar Delgadillo, 39, of Drums, is facing criminal homicide and related charges.
According to State Police at Hazleton, troopers were called around 6:20am to assist officers from the Butler Township (Luzerne County) Police Department with a stabbing investigation on Louis Circle in the St. John’s section, north of Hazleton.
A 13-year-old boy was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital – Hazleton where he was pronounced dead, troopers said.
Troopers said his adoptive father caused “multiple serious injuries to [his] head, chest, back, and hands over the course of several hours, not allowing the victim to leave.”
Delgadillo was taken into custody on criminal homicide charges and arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Daniel O’Donnell.
Bail was denied and he was committed to Luzerne County Prison.
The State Police Troop N Major Case Team is investigating.
