FRANKLIN TWP., N.J. (PIX11) — A New Jersey State Trooper is identified as a suspect in the killings of two people at a home in Hunterdon County, before turning the gun on himself, according to New Jersey officials.

33-year-old Lauren Semanchik and 29-year-old Tyler Webb were identified as the victims.

Neighbors told PIX11 News they heard gunshots coming from a home on Upper Kingtown Road in the Pittstown section of Franklin Township Friday evening.

“We were outside, so we clearly heard shots,” said the neighbor, “and then we heard the screams.”

Police responded Friday night but did not find anything. The next day, a 911 call was made just after noon after someone discovered the bodies.

“After the first two or three shots, then we started hearing the screaming,” said another neighbor, “and then that was followed by two or three more shots and silence.”

Police say Semanchik and the State Trooper, identified as Ricardo Santos, who was a Sergeant First Class, were dating and had broken up last year, and that she was now dating Webb.

After their breakup, Semanchik had also alleged that Santos engaged in continued harassment and controlled behavior.

A video surveillance recording system in Semanchik’s vehicle showed a white 2008 Mercedes SUV following her closely as she left work on Friday. While the vehicle eventually stopped following as Semanchik turned into her driveway, an individual was seen stealthily walking through the wooded area along the driveway shortly after, officials say.

Police say Santos was found dead in the same vehicle in Johnson Park in Piscataway later that evening. Police say a semiautomatic handgun was also found in the vehicle.

In a Facebook post, Semanchik’s animal hospital, where she served as a veterinarian, said she will be remembered as one of the kindest souls you could encounter, and a friend.

Webb served in the Pinewald Pioneer Fire Company in Ocean County. His sister told PIX11 News he was proud to serve his community, and his family is heartbroken. His best friend, Tim Hull, told PIX11 News in a statement, in part, “I hope he is remembered not only for how he left us, but for how fiercely and generously he lived.”

Fundraisers have been established to support the families of Semanchik and Webb
