If you need a permit or license in St. Paul, you’ll need to submit it the old-fashioned way amid cyberattack

St. Paul cyberattack latest

Due to the City of St. Paul continuing to work through a cyberattack, the Department of Safety and Inspections (DSI) is back to handling licenses and permits the old-fashioned way: by paper and in person.

The department handles licenses and permits related to: animal control, building and construction, event permits, businesses and property.

The office is located at 375 Jackson Street in St. Paul. DSI is encouraging people to check the city webpage and print and fill out applications before arriving at the office, and to ensure they have the additional documentation required, such as insurance documents. However, they will have paper applications available there.

Accepted payment methods for fees associated with licenses or permits are: cash, check or credit card, but checks and credit cards information will be held but not processed until systems are fully restored from the cyberattack.

The office says that simple permits and licenses can potentially be processed while people wait. People seeking Class N business licenses should email completed applications to dsiweb@ci.stpaul.mn.us.

DSI is still determining how to submit permits for significant building or plan reviews. If you require that, send an email to DSI-BuildingPlanReview@ci.stpaul.mn.us, and the city will work with you on how to submit a plan.

Any with questions on license and permits can email dsi-informationcomplaints@ci.stpaul.mn.us.
