Auburn’s Hickory Dickory Park closes for renovations

AUBURN, Ala. (WRBL) — A popular attraction for kids and adults will undergo a month-long improvement project starting Monday.

Hickory Dickory Park, located at 1399 Hickory Lane, will be closed from August 4 to Sept. 19 (weather permitting) for scheduled renovations, Auburn officials say.

The City of Auburn’s Water Resource Management team will partner with Auburn University on the following projects:

  • Restoring the park’s streambank
  • Planting new rain gardens
  • Creation of a foot path that connects the park to the end of Hickory Lane
  • Adding picnic tables
  • Upgrading gutter system on the bathroom building
  • Addition of sod and an irrigation system

Weather and other unexpected delays could extend the duration of the park’s closure. Auburn officials ask that people stay out of the parking lot and park areas during construction.

A list of parks that will remain open can be found here.
